Why is the comments section important?
Considering a website, what matters the most about it, is its comments section. This is where you interact with your customers or the public users of your website. Therefore, it is clear that the users would spend more time on your website if the comment section becomes highly interactive. There is no doubt in the fact that making the comment section interactive enough would in turn make your website popular among others.
What happens with a rich comments section?
However, considering a WordPress website, the comment section being interactive could affect the performance of your website. This is because, when more comments like a 500+ of them are added into an article, the time taken to load this article or to open it will be on a lag than usual. This can make the process very time-consuming. It takes time for the article to be opened just because there needs to be enough time dedicated for all comments in the comment section to be loaded. Hence, this leads to a low or poor performance of the site. This will definitely create a bad impression on your regular users or customers. People are usually attracted to pages or sites that they get loaded with the tiniest of time.
The Solution – Lazy Load For Comments
So here I am with a new plugin that will help you save yourselves from this problem. It can help you in cases when the native comment system of WordPress makes it heavy on your website. This plugin is called Lazy Load For Comments. This plugin can be installed by downloading it through browsing the WordPress repository. You could also search for the same in the admin panel of WordPress in the plugin session. Installing this plugin is very easy and is exactly how you do with any other.
How do Lazy Load work?
- Once you have installed this plugin, you should go to the discussion settings of your website in which you will find all the settings for Lazy Load. There you have options to use Lazy Load according to how you want it. You have three ways to choose the options on how you want your comments section to be loaded. The first one is where you find an option for the comments section without Lazy Load. If you choose this option, you wouldn’t have to use this plugin.
- The second option you have is called On Click. If you are to choose this option, in the place of the comments section of your website, there will be a button instead. This button would read “Load Comments”. This option works in such a way that it doesn’t load the comments while a user opens the page first. They would get to use your page without the comments. However, if they would like to go through these comments or add a comment, they will just have to click on this button which will load all the comments in that page. This will help your page enhance its loading speed even if there are too many comments in the comments section.
- The third option is called On Scroll. If this option is selected, when you user opens a page, it gets loaded easily as the comments will not be loaded then. Here, the comments will get loaded only if the one who is visiting the page scrolls through the whole article and reaches the comments section.
What do I think?
If asked which of the three options is the best, I would personally suggest the third, which is called the On Scroll option. The advantage of using this option is that it is more user friendly as they get the page loaded in no time and they don’t come to know that the comments are not loaded initially but would get to read or add the comments when they reach the comments section. In fact, it doesn’t require an effort from the user’s part to load the comments, rather it happens to the page automatically.
The query!
Now you might come across a query where you would think if lazy loading could reduce the search engine performance of the website. However, this plugin is designed in such a way that it doesn’t affect the search engine performance. If it is the search engine itself that visits your site, comments would be loaded as usual and this plugin wouldn’t do its function in that case. This plugin would only work when real users use it. Therefore, this plugin doesn’t affect the website negatively, it would only enhance the overall performance of your site.
I am assured that you would be delighted to see how this plugin brings a positive change to your site by making it the best. Hoping to see your comments on your experience with the Lazy Load plugin in the comment box below.
Thank you for being here, mates! See ya.
